    • Ultimately, it was the chance discovery of an image of a naked boy on Neil Strachan’s computer by a computer engineer that sparked this investigation. It is by no means over. There are 30 ongoing inquiries. The case raises a number of issues. Are internet service providers doing enough to trace and remove this material? Are enough resources being devoted to these investigations and the specialist skills they require at a time when billions are being spent on collecting huge amounts of data on millions of innocent British people? The fact that one gang member was working in both an after-school care club and a church Sunday school after passing checks by Disclosure Scotland is a reminder that child protection systems are no substitute for vigilance. The undistinguished appearance and day-to-day lives of these men should act as a warning to us all.
